As chief executive officer of Zeaborn Ship Management, Holger Strack is responsible for the group’s ship management activities.
Holger Strack joined the company group of Hamburg entrepreneur Bertram Rickmers in 1997 after his apprenticeship in the Industrial Commercial Management business. Following the work in various departments and senior management positions, he became Managing Director of Rickmers Reederei in 2010 and from 2011 until 2017 Chief Executive Officer of the Maritime Assets segment. In July 2016 he also took over the position as Chief Executive Officer of the Rickmers Maritime Service segment. Through various engagements in the shipping industry, especially due to holding several management positions at Rickmers, Holger Strack acquired magnificent expert knowledge of the shipping industry.
In 2017 Rickmers Shipmanagement was acquired by Bremen-based Zeaborn Group, who also acquired Hamburg–based ship manager E.R. Schiffahrt in 2018. After merging both entities under the new brand Zeaborn Ship Management the company was led by Holger Strack and Nils Aden as Co-CEOs during the initial integration phase. As of 1 January 2019, Holger Strack takes over as Chief Executive Officer with a particular focus in the areas of Customer Relations, Key Account Management and Business Development.
As chief operating officer of Zeaborn Ship Management, Michael Brandhoff is responsible for the technical division, crewing, procurement and newbuilding as well as the continuous operational performance improvement.
Before he began his career, he studied Maritime Engineering at the University of Applied Science Hamburg. He then held positions as managing director at Reederei Hamburger Lloyd and Hamburger Lloyd Tanker. Michael Brandhoff joined Rickmers Shipmanagement in Hamburg as managing director and deputy chief operating officer in March 2017. In September 2017 Rickmers Shipmanagement was acquired by Bremen-based Zeaborn Group. Effective 1 January 2018, Zeaborn Group also acquired Hamburg–based ship manager E.R. Schiffahrt. In July 2018 Michael Brandhoff was appointed COO of E.R. Schiffahrt, renamed to Zeaborn Ship Management in August 2018.
Being already 25 years in the shipping industry, especially in view of having been a technical director as well as consultant for Hamburg Süd, RHL and others, Michael Brandhoff has gained outstanding experience in this business surrounding.
Erik Kruse is chief financial officer of Zeaborn Ship Management. In this role, he is responsible for all commercial activities at the shipping company. Besides administration and IT, this includes accounting, finance and controlling, cooperation with banks, managing foreign currencies and interest rates, as well as the liquidity management of both the shipping company and the single-ship companies managed.
A banker by training and a graduate in commerce, he began his career in the corporate and financial controlling department of Jungheinrich AG. In 2000, he transferred to the shipping company Hapag-Lloyd AG, where he held various management positions in internal treasury. In 2005, he took over as head of interest rate and currency management at the Hamburg issuing house HCI. Since 2007, Erik Kruse has served as head of finance and controlling at E.R. Schiffahrt. In February 2015, he was appointed to the management board of E.R. Schiffahrt. After the company has been sold to Zeaborn Group effective January 2018 Erik Kruse continues as CFO of Zeaborn Ship Management.
As managing director of Zeaborn Ship Management and member of the management board Isabelle Rickmers is responsible for the business development and key account management divisions.
She studied international business administration in Vienna, London, Madrid and Paris, and gained her early practical experience with international companies, including in Shanghai, London and Madrid. In 2010, she began a trainee programme with the E.R. Group and passed through various roles at investment firm Nordcapital and shipbroker Harper Petersen. Isabelle Rickmers subsequently moved to the shipping company E.R. Schiffahrt, where she started out in the customer relations department. She assumed management of this department in 2014. In January 2015 she was appointed to the management board of E.R. Schiffahrt. After the company has been sold to Zeaborn Group effective January 2018 she continues as managing director of Zeaborn Ship Management.
Heiko Nies serves as the managing director of Zeaborn Crew Management GmbH & Cie. KG, a subsidiary of Zeaborn Ship Management that specialises in crewing and sea services. In this role, he is responsible for the company's maritime personnel.
After training to become an officer, Heiko Nies studied industrial and organisational psychology at the University of Hamburg. He has almost two decades of experience in the field of human resources and held senior positions at various companies in Hamburg before joining E.R. Capital Holding as head of HR in 2010. In this role he supervised personnel administration for the land-based staff of all companies in the Group. Due to an internal restructuring process human resources has been belonging to E.R. Schiffahrt since the beginning of 2017.
On 1 July 2015, Heiko Nies was also appointed as the director of former E.R. Ship Management, now Zeaborn Crew Management, taking on additional responsibility for maritime personnel. After the company has been sold to Zeaborn Group effective January 2018 he continues as managing director of Zeaborn Crew Management.
As managing director of Zeaborn Ship Management (Singapore) Charan Singh is responsible for the company’s ship management and business activities.
Charan Singh has over 30 years of experience in the shipping. His career began as a seafarer on a variety of vessel types for a Hong Kong ship manager. He quickly assumed responsibility as a deck officer and was in charge of multinational teams of crew members. After completing his Master’s Degree in International Trade & Transport (Shipping Business) in the UK he became the Manager of a bulker ship owning company in London. In 2013 he moved to Singapore and started as Senior Vice President Commercial of a dry bulk ship owning company holding responsibility for the Chartering, Operations and Insurance Divisions. He joined E.R. Schiffahrt in 2017. In 2018 the company was acquired by German Zeaborn Group, who had also acquired Rickmers Shipmanagement the previous year. Charan Singh was appointed managing director of Rickmers Shipmanagement (Singapore) in June 2018. After the Zeaborn Group had consolidated its ship management activities under the new Zeaborn Ship Management brand, Rickmers Shipmanagement (Singapore) has been operating as Zeaborn Ship Management (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. since 30 August 2018, with Charan Singh continuing to be responsible as its managing director.
Capt. Ninad Sharad Mhatre is the deputy managing director for Zeaborn Ship Management (Singapore).
Capt. Mhatre is a Master Mariner by profession, having started his maritime career in 1979 and then serving in ascending ranks on merchant vessels until receiving command as Master on board in 1994. He served at sea for 20 years, accumulating experience on a wide variety of vessel types. After moving ashore in 2000, he has worked in various roles including Marine Safety & Quality, new-building supervision and takeover, ship-board auditing, bulk transshipment, and commercial & operations management. Capt. Mhatre joined Rickmers Shipmanagement (Singapore) in 2014, as Head of Chartering / Operations, before taking on wider responsibilities within the company.
In 2017 the company was acquired by German Zeaborn Group, who also acquired E.R. Schiffahrt the following year. Capt. Mhatre was appointed deputy managing director of Rickmers Shipmanagement (Singapore) in June 2018. After the Zeaborn Group had consolidated its ship management activities under the new Zeaborn Ship Management brand, Rickmers Shipmanagement (Singapore) has been operating as Zeaborn Ship Management (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. since 30 August 2018, with Captain Ninad Mhatre continuing to be responsible as deputy managing director.
